KING'S FIELD HOCKEY WINS OPENER 4-0 OVER KEYSTONE

 

WILKES-BARRE –  Jenera Quinones and Calli Berryman tallied one goal and one assist apiece as the King's College field hockey team posted a dominating 4-0 victory over visiting Keystone College in the season-opener for both teams Wednesday at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.

 

King's scored first at 16:41 of the first half when Jackie Sikora struck net off a Quinones crossing pass.  The Lady Monarchs quickly added to the lead at 37:58 when Quinones scored off an entry pass from Cally Berryman.

 

King's tacked on another goal at 28:19 of the second half when Berryman converted a feed from Terracciano on penalty corner for a 3-0 Lady Monarch advantage. Stefanie Wingerter added the final score when she made good on a penalty corner with 5:57 left in the contest.

 

King's held a 23-2 lead in shots while owning a hefty 16-5 advantage in penalty corners. King's goalie Erin McGinley was forced to make just one save while Lady Giant keeper Melinda Moore registered nine shots.

 

King's returns to action Saturday at the Stevens Invitational where the Lady Monarchs face traditional national power College of New Jersey at 12:00 noon.
