WILKES-BARRE – The King's College volleyball program is set to turn a new page as first-year head coach Alicia Orlowski leads the young Lady Monarchs into play in 2010 at Cedar Crest College tonight at 7:00 p.m. The two teams met last season in Wilkes-Barre, as King's posted a sweep of the Falcons in straight sets 3-0.
King's comes off a 19-11 season in 2009, but have some big shoes to fill as three All-Conference selections graduated from last season. Senior setter Kelly Greenway (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) is back in 2010 to lead the Lady Monarch offensive attack. Greenway finished fifth in the conference with 659 assists and added 106 digs and 16 total blocks. Fellow senior middle hitter Emily Kline (Andreas, PA/Lehighton Area) returns after posting 140 kills, 17 serve aces, and 33 total blocks. Junior outside hitter Colleen Grosenick (Allentown, PA/Dieruff) will provide additional leadership on the attack after posting 84 kills, 21 serve aces, and 96 digs a season ago.
Cedar Crest enters the new campaign after posting a 9-15 overall mark a season ago. The Falcons return senior setter Lauren Seale who top the squad with 511 assists while adding 197 digs and 14 total blocks.
Following the match, King's will return to the court Saturday when they travel to Marywood University.
