KING'S FIELD HOCKEY DOWNS MARYWOOD, 3-0

WILKES-BARRE --  Danielle Terracciano scored two goals to power the King's College field hockey team to a 5-1 victory over visiting Marywood University Friday night at McCarthy Stadium.

King's opened the scoring 14:11 into the game when Jenera Quinones split a trio defenders and found Terracciano with a short crossing pass. Terracciano then placed the ball just inside the left post to give the Lady Monarchs a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Monarchs struck again just 5:53 later when Quinones again drove on net and found Calli Berryman of on the right side of the box for an easy tap-in goal, giving the Lady Monarchs a 2-0 advantage.

The lead grew to 3-0 when Abby McManus knocked a rebound into the back of the cage with 8:45 left in the half to register her first career goal. Freshman Michelle Schmidt made it a 4-0 halftime lead when she also netted her first collegiate score when she drilled in a shot from just inside the circle with 2:52 on the clock.

Terracciano tallied her second goal off an assist by Shawna Walp with 23:27 remaining in the contest.

Marywood got on the board with 2:36 left when Brittany Beaton deflected in an entry pass from Julie Doughtery.

King's outshot Marywood 19-1 and held a commanding 16-3 advantage in corner kicks. King's goalie Erin McGinley picked up the win without making a save. Pacer keeper Jamie Bowman registered six stops.

King's returns to action Tuesday in Aston with a 5:00 p.m. matchup at Neumann College.
