King’s Soccer Teams Hosting D’Youville College Sunday, View LiveStats

WILKES-BARRE – The King's College soccer teams will be back in action Sunday when the squads welcome D'Youville College for a doubleheader at McCarthy Stadium. The women's match is set for 11:00 a.m., while the men's contest will begin at 1:00 p.m.

On the women's side, King's enters the contest with a 1-3 overall mark following a 2-0 loss against Baptist Bible College in their home debut on Thursday. The Lady Monarchs have been led by junior forwards Jade Zuniga (Tannersville, PA/Pocono Mountain East) and Becky Chateauneuf (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) with seven points each. Zuniga tops the team with three goals and one assist, while Chateauneuf adds two goals and a team-best three helpers. Junior goalie Danielle Johnson (Bear Creek, PA/Coughlin) has a 3.35 goals against average with 32 saves in four matches played.

 

On the men's side, King's enters the match on a three-game winning streak after posting a 3-0 shutout victory at Baptist Bible College on Thursday. King's features a balanced offensive attack, as 12 different Monarchs have reached the scoring column on the season. Sophomore defender Tim Meyer tops the squad with four points on two goals. Senior midfielder Dan Horn and freshman forward Kevin Buchanan each add three points on one goal and one assist. Freshman goalkeeper Brandon Raynor has yet to allow a goal in two contests, while sophomore Andrew O'Shura recorded the shutout win against BBC making three saves.

 

King's women will continue their home stretch with a matchup against Alvernia University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium. The Monarch men will travel to Scranton, Pa. Tuesday to face Marywood University at 7:00 p.m.
