King's Volleyball Splits a Pair of Matches on Day Two of Scranton Invitational

SCRANTON, PA – The King's College volleyball team split a pair of matches on day two of the Scranton Invitational Tournament Saturday afternoon. The Lady Monarchs recorded a 3-2 win against Centenary College in their first match before dropping a 3-2 decision against Wilkes University to finish play at the two-day tournament.

 

Following the tournament, King's sees its overall mark stand at 2-4 overall.

 

King's took the match against Centenary in five sets by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 24-26, 23-25, and 16-14. Heather Bowman led the team with 17 kills and 10 digs. Emily Kline followed with 14 kills and one block assist. Kelly Greenway finished with a team-best 32 assists and 12 digs. Jillian Foster led the Lady Monarchs on the defensive end with 20 digs.

 

Wilkes would post a five-set win over King's in the Lady Monarchs second match of the afternoon by scores of 25-17, 20-25, 23-25, 27-25, and 14-16. Kline enjoyed another solid match posting a team-high 18 kills and one solo block. Bowman added 12 kills and 16 digs, while Greenway led the passing game with 32 assists and 19 digs.

 

King's will return to the court Wednesday when they make their 2010 home debut against Delaware Valley College. The match is schedule for 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
