KING'S MEN'S SOCCER REGISTERS A 4-0 VICTORY OVER D'YOUVILLE

WILKES-BARRE –  Joey Bender scored once and dished out two assists to lead the King's College men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over visiting D'Youville College Sunday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the victory, the Monarchs improved to 4-1 with their fourth straight victory of the season. The Spartans, meanwhile, fell to 0-6.

King's quickly got on the board just 3:30 into the game when Bender scored on a pass from Tim Meyer. The Monarchs would build a 2-0 lead with 26:56 in the opening half when Kevin Buchanan made good on a header inside the right post following a crossing pass from Bender.

King's took the  a 3-0 lead in the second half when Bender struck net on a crossing pass from Dan Mortenson with 36:48 left in the contest.

The Monarchs built the lead to 4-0 when Meyer redirected a perfect crossing pass from Bender inside the right post.

King's was outstanding defensively as the Monarchs held a 27-0 advantage in shots while owning a 12-0 lead in corner kicks. King's goalies Andrew O'Shura and Brandon Raynor did not have to make a save while D'Youville keeper Matt Smith posted 10 stops.


The Monarchs return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. road contest at Marywood University in Scranton.
