WILKES-BARRE – Calli Berryman and Shawna Walp scored two goals each and combined for three assists to propel the King's College field hockey team to a 5-1 victory against FDU-Florham in the Lady Monarchs Freedom Conference opener.

With the win King's improves to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play and extend their win streak to six games dating back to September 5. FDU-Florham drops to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in Freedom matches.

King's controlled much of the first half of play as the Lady Monarchs experienced several scoring opportunities. Jenera Quinones gave King's a 1-0 lead at the 10:33 mark when she found the back of the net off a shot from five yards out. Nine minutes later Berryman notched her first tally of the afternoon when she scored off a rebound from a Shelby Trenge shot attempt. Walp would extend the lead to 3-0 before the break when she deflected home a Berryman pass at the 33:58 mark.

The duo would exchange places in the second half as Berryman would add her second goal of the contest off a deflection from a Walp helper. FDU-Florham would get on the board late as Lauren Fabrizio scored with just over 15 minutes to play. Walp would record her second tally at the 66:56 mark from another Berryman assist, this time a crossing pass from the left side to seal the conference win at 5-1.

King's outshot FDU-Florham 15-3, while both teams garnered seven penalty corners. Erin McGinley and freshman Megan Withrow split time in net for King's as McGinley picked up the win. Devils goalie Tess Loughran finished with four stops in net.

King's will return to action Tuesday when they welcome Elizabethtown College to McCarthy Stadium for a non-conference game scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
