WILKES-BARRE – Following a 4-0 opening season victory against Keystone College, the King's College field hockey team will take to the road for the first time in 2010 as the Lady Monarchs travel to Hoboken, NJ to play two nationally ranked opponents in the Stevens Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. King's will face No. 17 The College of New Jersey on Saturday at 12:00 p.m., then play the host No. 18 Stevens Institute of Technology on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

2009 All-Regional selection junior Jenera Quinones (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) and sophomore forward Calli Berryman (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) led the Lady Monarch attack against Keystone with one goal and one assist. Sophomore forward Jackie Sikora (Trenton, NJ/Robbinsville) posted the game-winner early in the contest, while fellow sophomore defender Stefanie Wingerter (Dingman's Ferry/Delaware Valley) added a penalty stroke goal late in the game. Senior goalie Erin McGinley (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Seminary) has yet to allow a goal, recording two stops in the win against Keystone.
The College of New Jersey and Stevens Institute of Technology enter the two-day tournament after facing each other Wednesday. TCNJ posted a 1-0 victory, as Leigh Mitchell scored the game-winning goal for the Lions. TCNJ goalie Shannon Syciarz did not face a shot on goal in the shutout win. Stevens' goalie Ellyn Griggs made seven stops in the loss.
Following the tournament, King's will return home on September 10 when they welcome Marywood University for a non-conference tilt scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
