KING'S FIELD HOCKEY UPSETS 18TH RANKED STEVENS

Erin McGinley
HOBOKEN, NJ —Danielle Terracciano scored the only goal of the game and Erin McGinley (left) made 17 saves in goal as the King's College field hockey team posted a 1-0 upset victory over nationally-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on the final day of the Stevens' Invitational Tournament in Hoboken, NJ.

With the win, King's improved to 2-1 on the year.

The Lady Monarchs pushed across what proved to be the wining goal at 22:46 of the first half when Terracciano redirected a drive from the upper left of the circle by Jenera Quinones inside the right post to give King's a 1-0 lead.

Stevens fought back and had a number of opportunities to tie the game, particularly in the second half, but McGinley refused to wilt under fire and kept the Ducks off the board. In the second half, McGinley made 12 of her 17 saves while facing 23 shots from Stevens, which entered the game ranked 18th nationally ny the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

King's will be idle until Friday when the Lady Monarchs host Marywood University at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
