KING'S MEN'S SOCCER POSTS 1-0 WIN OVER POTSDAM STATE

WILKES-BARRE -- Tim Meyer scored the lone goal of the game as the King's College men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over visiting Potsdam State University Sunday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win, King's improved to 2-1 while Potsdam slipped to 0-2.

Meyer scored what proved to be the winning goal 10:58 into the contest when his shot on goal deflected off a Potsdam defender and inside the right post.

King's controlled the vast majority of the game territorially and held a 14-3 advantage in shots as well as a 5-1 lead in corner kicks.

Monarch freshman goalie Brandon Raynor made one save to gain the shutout victory while Potsdam keeper Joe Glackin registered four stops. The game was a physical affair with a combined 41 fouls between the squad.

The Monarchs return to action Thursday with a 4:00 p.m. contest against Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit.
