King's Wrestlers Post 40-7 Win Over Muhlenberg

KING'S GRAPPLERS DEFEAT MUHLENBERG 40-7

WILKES-BARRE --  The King's College wrestling team was the beneficiary of four Muhlenberg College forfeits, but won four of the six matches wrestled as the Monarch posted a 40-7 victory over the Mules Wednesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.

The Monarchs, who competed without two of their top wrestlers – Mike Reilly (184) and Tommy Desir (157) - who were sidelined with minor injuries, took control from the start, building a 16-0 lead and never looked back.

Don Hollenbach, subbing for Desir, posted a pin in the first match of the evening at 157 to start the Monarchs off on the right foot. After Frank Marinucci posted a major decision at 165, Ahmed Burton was awarded a forfeit at 174. Muhlenberg would win two of the next three bouts, but the Monarchs won the final four contests to earn the victory.

Anthony Dietrick tallied a 11-3 major decision while Mike Laporta posted an 8-2 decision for King's other victories.

King's returns to the mats Friday when the Monarchs host 12th ranked York College Friday at 7:00 p.m. In Scandlon Gym.
