UNDERMANNED KING'S GRAPPLERS FALL TO 12TH RANKED YORK

WILKES-BARRE — As if facing 12th ranked York College wasn't challenging enough, the King's College wrestling team was forced to do so without five starters who missed the meet due to a variety of injuries and illness. The result was a 38-3 loss to the Spartans Friday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.

York, which improved to 17-4-1 on the year, was the eighth team ranked in the NWCA Top-25, to defeat the Monarchs this season.

The Monarchs, who were forced to compete without fourth-ranked Mike Reilly (184), Ricky Dorsey (125), Anthony Dietrick (141), Tommy Desir (157), and Frank Marinucci (165), were forced to forfeit two weights and won only one match on the night. The Monarchs, however, battled hard and were highly-competitive in five of the seven losses decided on the mat.

Freshman Ahmed Burton put on a solid effort in posting a 5-1 victory at 174-pounds as the lone victor for King's. Pete Dwyer dropped a hard-fought 7-6 verdict at 197 while Chris Mazzoccho fell 8-5 to Chris Gugliotti at 149.

King's will be idle until Thursday when the Monarchs travel to Williamsport to face Lycoming at 7:00 p.m.
