Allentown, PA-- The King's College field hockey team downed Muhlenberg 5-1 on Wednesday night in non-conference action.
The teams played a tight first half with the Lady Monarchs (7-5) scoring the only tally when
Shawna Walp drove home a rebound at 28:02.
King's opened the second half with a goals at 36:03 from
Calli Berryman and again at 43:42 when
Jenera Quinones scored unassisted.
Muhlenberg (4-8) got on the board when Devon Barber scored unassisted when she put in her own rebound.
The Lady Monarchs answered with a goal by
Abby McManus at 54:03 on a pass across the goal mouth from
Shawna Walp. King's iced the game when Quinones carried the ball to the middle on the field and found Berryman on the left wing for her second goal of the game at 67:42.
King's outshot Muhlenberg 18-6 and led 8-3 in penalty corners. Lady Monarch goalie Meghan Withrow made three saves in the contest.
King's is back in action Saturday when the Lady Monarchs host Delaware Valley in an important Freedom Conference tilt at 1:00 pm at McCarthy Stadium.
