KING'S FIELD HOCKEY EARNS 3-0 VICTORY DELAWARE VALLEY

WILKES-BARRE –  Jackie Sikora scored a pair of goals to lead the King's College field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference matchup Saturday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win, King's improved to 8-5 overall and 1-2 in Freedom Conference play. Delaware Valley, meanwhile, fell to 2-11 and 0-3 in league competition.

King's took a 1-0 lead when Calli Berryman knocked in a rebound following a goalie save with 0:21 left in the first half. The lead grew to 2-0 with 25:24 left in the second half when Sikora redirected a shot from Jenera Quinones just inside the left post.

King's tacked on its final goal just 1:39 later when Sikora struck net off an assist from Lindsay Mercer, giving the Lady Monarchs a 3-0 lead with 23:45 remaining in the contest.

King's dominated the action, outshooting Delaware Valley 29-1 while owning a 17-1 advantage in penalty corners.

King's goalies Megan Withrow and Brittany Nailor teamed for the shutout without needing to make a save. Aggie goalie Hollis Hancock, however, kept the Aggies in the game with 21 saves.

King's returns to action Monday with a 4:00 p.m. matchup against FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ.
