KING'S MEN'S SOCCER DOWNS FDU, 2-1
MADISON, NJ – The King's College men's soccer team built a 2-0 lead in the second half en route to posting a 2-1 Freedom Conference victory over host FDU-Florham Saturday in Madison, NJ.
With the win, King's improved to 8-3-2 overall and 2-2 in Freedom Conference play. FDU, meanwhile, fell to 5-10, 2-2.
King's took a 1-0 lead with 8:33 remaining in the first half when
Billy Elliott struck net off an assist from
Kevin Burke. The Monarchs took a 2-0 lead with 21:26 left in the contest when
Joey Bender scored off a second assist by Burke. FDU scored just 0:58 later on an unassisted goal by Anthony Sarcone but the Monarchs held on for the victory.
FDU outshot King's 9-6 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. Monarch goalie
Andrew O'Shura posted three saves.
King's returns to action Wednesday night when the Monarchs travel to face cross-town rival Wilkes University at 7:00 p.m. in Schmidt Stadium.
