QUINONES NETS PAIR OF GOALS AS KING'S FIELD HOCKEY WINS IMPORTANT FREEDOM CONFERENCE MATCHUP WITH FDU-FLORHAM
MADISON, NJ -- Reigning Freedom Conference "Player of the Year" Jenera Quinones scored one goal in each half to power the King's College field hockey team to an important 2-0 Freedom Conference victory over host FDU-Florham Monday in Madison, NJ.
With the win, King's improved to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the Freedom Conference while handing FDU (8-8, 3-1 Freedom) its first conference loss of the year.
King's took a 1-0 lead 12:15 into the contest when Quinones scored an unassisted goal. The score remainder the same for the next 54:35 until Quinones put the game away with another unassisted goal with 3:10 remaining in the contest.
Quinones, the leading scorer in the Freedom Conference, increased he season output to 41 points on 16 goals and nine assists.
King's outshot FDU 21-7 and held a 10-8 advantage in penalty corners. Lady Monarch goalie Megan Withrow was the winner in goal, posting four saves.
King's returns to action Wednesday night when the Lady Monarchs host Wilkes at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
