KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO WILKES
KINGSTON — Alicia Roberts scored a pair of goals as the host Wilkes University women's soccer team posted a 4-1 victory over King's College in a Freedom Conference matchup Wednesday at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
With the win, Wilkes improved to 7-3-3 overall and 3-0-2 in Freedom Conference games. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 2-12 and 0-5 in league competition.
Wilkes opened the scoring just 0:56 into the game when Jana Martin knocked in a crossing pass from Katie Cocchi. Roberts made it a 2-0 game at the 8:5 mark when she converted off another crossing pass from Cocchi. The Lady Colonel scored again at 36:02 when Roberts scored her second goal off an assist by Martin, giving Wilkes a 3-0 halftime lead.
In the second stanza, Wilkes pushed the lad to 4-0 when Priscilla Bonilla scored off a Haley Adam assist 2:28 into the final frame. King's got on the board at 53:40 when
Mary Kate Lambert converted a cross from
Samantha Beadle to bring the final score to 4-1.
Wilkes held a 21-6 advantage in shots and a 5-0 lead in corner kicks. King's goalie
Lauren Duguid made five saves while Wilkes keeper Sam Lindo posted two stops.
King's returns to the field Thursday when the Lady Monarchs travel to Clarks Summit to play Baptist Bible College at 3:30 p.m.
