Dallas, PA-- Behind a pair of goals from
Jenera Quinones the King's College field hockey team blanked Misericordia 2-0 to earn an important Freedom Conference win Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Quinones found the back of the net at 11:39 when she gathered a loose ball in the circle a fired a shot into the left side of the net.
The Lady Monarchs (11-5, 4-2) scored again when Quinones carried the ball down the right wing and found the back of the net.
After the second goal by Quinones the Cougars (3-9, 1-4) replaced goalkeeper Haley Brandt with Grace Riker. The teams then played a scoreless second half.
the leading scorer in the Freedom Conference, Quinones now has 54 points on 21 goals and 11 assists.
King's held a 15-8 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in penalty corners.
Megan Withrow made four saves three in the second half to earn her fourth shutout of the season and improved her record to 11-5. Brandt took the loss for Misericordia, while Riker made four saves.
The Lady Monarchs finish their Freedom Conference slate on Tuesday when they travel to DeSales for a 4:00 p.m. start.
