KING'S MEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN OVERTIME TO LVC, 3-2
WILKES-BARRE -- Chris Hall scored a pair of goals, including he game-winner in overtime as the visiting Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team posted a 3-2 victory over host King's College Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
With the win, Lebanon Valley improved to 11-7 while the Monarchs slipped to 10-4-2
After a scoreless first half King's scored just 3:00 into the final frame when
Alex Martino beat a defender on the right wing and went one-on-one with the goalie and placing his shot inside the lower right post.
Lebanon Valley tied the score with 31:09 remaining when Jim Fisher took a shot from 30 yards away on the left wing, freezing King's goalie
Mark Labbadia in the process, as the ball found its way into the upper right corner of the net to even the game at 1-1.
The Flying Dutchmen took a 2-1 lead with 23:39 remaining on a penalty kick by Hall after Labbadia was whistled for a foul in the box attempting to clear a 50-50 ball from a Lebanon Valley attacker.
The Monarchs knotted the score with just 4:08 to play when
Brian Alifano corralled a ball that bounced off a Dutchmen defender and placed his shot into the net.
The Dutchmen, however, would ealk away with the victory when Hall scored on a header off a corner kick from Brendan Steel at 6:07 into the first overtime period.
King's outshot Lebanon Valley 13-10 and held a8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Labbadia made three saves for King's while Dutchmen goalie Josh Lineweaver posted five stops.
King's will close out the regular-season Saturday at 7:00 p.m. when the Monarchs host Manhattanville College in a game King's figures to need to win in order to qualify for the Freedom Conference playoffs.
