King's Women Suffer 72-48 Freedom Conference Loss at DeSales

KING'S WOMEN FALL INTO SECOND-PLACE FREEDOM CONFERENCE TIE WITH 72-48 LOSS AT DESALES

 

CENTER VALLEY --  The DeSales University women's basketball team built a 36-28 half-time lead, then held visiting King's College to just one point over the first 6:04 of the second half to build a 52-29 lead as the Bulldogs walked away with a 72-48 victory Saturday in Billera Hall.

With the win, DeSales improved to 15-0 overall and tied King's for second-place in the Freedom Conference standing with a 8-4 mark. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 14-9 and 8-4. The win enabled DeSales to salvage a split with the season series with King's. The Lady Monarchs won 62-54 on January 22 at home. Both teams trail first-place Misericordia by one full game after the Cougars downed Eastern Saturday afternoon

Sondrine Glovas led the Bulldogs with 16 points and seven rebounds while Lori Lidlow tallied 14 points and Cherelle Simons added 12 points and 15 rebounds.

 

King's received 12 points and nine rebounds from Brittany Muscatell while Paige Carlin and Celia Rader followed with 11 and 10 points respectively.

 

DeSales shot 45.5 (25-55) percent from the field compared to 27.0 (17-63) percent for King's. The Lady Monarchs struggled mightily from three-point range, connecting on just 6-of-28 long distance. The Lady Monarchs were also outrebounded 45-36 on the day.

King's now faces a critical home game on Tuesday when the Lady Monarchs host Misericordia in a 6:00 p.m. contest. King's will then close out the regular-season Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home game against Wilkes.
