King's Splits Freedom Opener Against FDU-Florham

KING'S BASEBALL SPLITS WITH FDU IN FREEDOM OPENER
 
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College baseball team managed a split with visiting FDU-Florham Sunday afternoon in both teams' Freedom opener. The Monarchs took game two 12-4, after dropping a 15-5 decision in game one.
 
With the split King's sees its overall mark move to 5-9 and stand 1-1 in league play. FDU-Florham stands 6-4 overall and 1-1 in conference games.
 
In the 12-4 win in game two, King's managed 10 hits in the contest including a six-run fourth inning and five-run fifth inning to record the victory. Anthony Re went 3-for-3 in the win scoring two times while plating three runs. Chris Sweeney was also strong at the plate going 2-for-3 including his first home run of the season. Brenton Eades posted the win in the circle going five innings allowing six hits and four runs throughout.
 
Game one was owned by the Devils as the visitors scored atleast one run in six of the seven innings to record the win. Rich Acierno led the Monarch attack going 2-for-3 with one run batted in. Mike Fignar finished with three hits and two RBI.
 
King's will return to the field Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against Penn State Hazleton at Lippo Fields at 4:00 p.m.
