KING'S BASEBALL BATTLES TO 1-1 TIE WITH EASTERN AFTER 15 INNINGS OF PLAY

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College baseball team battled through a 15 inning affair with visiting Eastern University with the game tied at 1-1 before being suspended due to darkness on Monday afternoon at Lipo Field.

Eastern took a 1-0 lead after six innings of play when Dan Garcia singled and later scored off an RBI single from Kristian Cotizo.

King's responded in the seventh tying the game at 1-1. Rich Acierno led off the inning with a single and two batters later Tim Marchetta singled through the middle where the ball was mis-handled by the centerfielder allowing Acierno to score.

After 15 innings of brilliant pitching on both sides, the umpires gathered and called the contest due to darkness. The MAC office has yet to announce when and if the game will be resumed and finished.

The Monarchs will return to the diamond Tuesday with a road contest at Marywood University in Scranton at 4:00 p.m.
