King's Baseball Set For Weekend Series With DeSales, View LiveStats

KING'S BASEBALL SET FOR WEEKEND SERIES WITH DESALES
 
WILKES-BARRE – The King's College baseball team looks to climb the conference standings with two weeks remaining in regular season play when they collide with DeSales University in a three-game set this weekend. A single nine-inning game is scheduled for Friday at 3:30 p.m. in Center Valley, with a doubleheader to follow on Saturday (weather permitting) at Lipo Field at 1:00 p.m.

King's (8-15-1, 3-7-1 Freedom) enters the series after recording a 2-1 win at non-league foe Marywood University on Tuesday and are currently in the seventh spot in the league standings. Sophomore shortstop Rob Lemoncelli (left) leads the offense batting .319 (29-91) with four doubles, one home run, and nine RBI. Senior outfielder Mike Fignar follows at .316 (25-79) with three doubles, two triples, and 13 RBI. Sophomore outfielder Chris Sweeney provides the power hitting .315 (28-89) with seven doubles, a team-high five homers and 18 RBI. Sophomore outfielder Rich Acierno posts a .309 (17-55) average with five doubles, one triple, and eight RBI.
 
In the circle, freshman Ryan Weiner stands 2-0 with an 8.10 earned run average in 10.0 innings. Senior Joey Troxel is 2-1 with a 4.08 ERA in 17.2 innings including 22 strikeouts. Sophomore Levi Tate owns a 1-1 mark with nine strikeouts in nine innings of work.
 
DeSales (13-9, 8-2 Freedom) holds the second spot in the conference standings after falling at Rutgers-Camden 7-6 on Monday. Jack Kavetski leads the Bulldogs offense batting .352 (19-54) with four doubles and three RBI. Jason Hadinger owns a .338 (22-65) average with two doubles, one home run, and a team-best 24 RBI. Doc Neiman hits .316 (24-76) with eight doubles and 19 RBI.
 
On the mound, Colby Pacillo stands 4-1 with a 2.62 ERA in 34.1 innings of action. Dan Gayeski is 2-0 with a 1.39 ERA in 32.1 innings. Travis Hughes owns a 3-1 mark with a 3.22 ERA in 22.1 innings.
 
Following the three-game set, King's will travel to the University of Scranton Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. non-league game scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
