Monarch Baseball Falls to FDU as Seven-Game Win Streak Comes to an End

KING'S BASEBALL TEAM SEES SEVEN GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED BY FDU

FLEMINGTON, NJ -- The King's College baseball team saw its seven-game win streak come to an end as the Monarchs dropped an 11-1 decision to FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference matchup Tuesday night at the Diamond Nation Baseball Complex.

With the loss, King's slipped to 14-16-1 overall and 9-8-1 in Freedom Conference games. FDU, meanwhile, improved to 16-10 and 10-6 in league contests.

The Monarchs managed five hits in the game. Chris Sweeney was 1-for-3 while scoring King's lone run. Jared Turner went 1-3 with a RBI. Joey Troxell, Mike Fignar, and Anthony Re also added one hit apiece.

Pat Matthews was the losing pitcher, going three and one-third innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts.

King's will continue its quest for a Freedom Conference Tournament berth on Friday when the Monarchs travel to Doylestown to face Delaware Valley College at 3:30 p.m. in the first of a three-game weekend series. King's will then host the Aggies in a doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Betzler Athletic Complex.
