KING'S FIELD HOCKEY RETURNS TO ACTION WITH A 2-0 WIN OVER ARCADIA

WILKES-BARRE -- Reigning Freedom Conference "Player of the Year" Jenera Quinones scored a pair of first-half goals to lead the King's College field hockey team to a 2-0 victory over visiting Arcadia University Tuesday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win, King's improved to 3-1 on the year while Arcadia slipped to 0-5.

King's looked to shake off the rust of an eight-day layoff thanks to heavy rains and record-setting flooding throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. Quinones, however, gave the Lady Monarchs a
1-0 lead after only 4:19 ran off the clock. Megan Mundy drilled a shot on goal which was stopped by Arcadia goalie Sarah Baumgardner, but Quinones was there to knock in the rebound.

The lead grew to 2-0 when Quinones scored her second goal off a penalty corner following an entry pass by Jackie Sikora with just 2:15 remaining in the opening half. It was Quinones seventh goal in four games this season.

Arcadia outshot King's 14-11 and held a 11-6 advantage in penalty corners.

King's goalie Megan Withrow made eight saves while Baumgardner posted six stops.

The Lady Monarchs will be idle until Saturday when King's hosts the University of Scranton at 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium. King's will come back the next day to host 20th ranked Montclair State at 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy.
