KING'S FIELD HOCKEY EARNS 5-0 WIN OVER NEUMANN
WILKES-BARRE --
Shawna Walp scored three goals as the King's College field hockey team posted a 5-0 victory over visiting Neumann College Thursday at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
With the win, King's improved to 5-2 on the year while Neumann slipped to 1-6.
King's took a 1-0 lead just 3:07 into the game when Walp put back a rebound off an initial shot from
Jenera Quinones. The lead grew to 2-0 just 0:48 later when Walp converted on another assist from Quinones. King's built a 3-0 half-time lead when Quinones drilled in a shot from just inside the circle with 4:10 left on the clock.
In the second half,
Jackie Sikora pushed the lead to 4-0 on a shot just inside the right post with 29:25 left in the contest. Walp gave King's scored the final goal 3:05 later on an unassisted goal. her third of the game.
King's outshot Neumann 22-8 and held a 13-5 lead in penalty corners.
Megan Withrow had four saves for King's while
Brittany Naylor made one stop. Neumann goalie Maggie Carpenter posted nine stops.
King's will next host its annual Alumni Game Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
