King's Volleyball Rallies Past Wilkes for Dramatic 3-2 Victory

KING'S VOLLEYBALL RALLIES PAST WILKES 3-2 IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE THRILLER

WILKES-BARRE --  The King's College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 game deficit, while also trailing 4-0 in game-five, as the Lady Monarchs rallied for a thrilling 3-2 Freedom Conference marathon victory over cross-town rival Wilkes University Wednesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.

 King's, which won by scores of 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 27-25, 16-14 improved to 3-10 overall and 1-2 in Freedom Conference play. Wilkes, meanwhile, slipped to 1-12 and 0-3 in league contests.

In the first game the teams were tied at 23-23 as Wilkes won the last two points to win the game. After the Lady Colonels captured the second game to build a 2-0 lead, King's squeezed out the last three games to earn the win. In the fifth game, Wilkes built a 4-0 lead in the race to 15 points but King's battled back. With the game tied 14-14, the Lady Monarchs won the last two points to win in dramatic fashion.

Heather Bowman led King's with 19 kills and 18 digs while Lauren Rockhold followed with 16 kills and four total blocks. Emily Heimbecker added 14 kills and 23 digs while Jillian Foster posted 29 digs with five service aces. Kelsie Kramer and Kaleigh Brady chipped in with four kills apiece.

Wilkes was paced by Emily DeBuck with 19 kills and nine digs while Emily Bohan followed with 17 kills and four blocks. Paige Trusty added seven kills and seven digs while Erin Nothstein posted 48 digs. Kate McGurk dished out 31 assists with 18 digs.

King's returns to action Saturday when the Lady Monarchs host Arcadia University at 10:00 before meeting Lycoming at 12:00 noon.
