Wilkes-Barre-- The King's men's soccer team jumped out early and never looked back as the Monarchs topped visiting Marywood 2-0 at King's Leffler Field Saturday.
Senior captain
Joey Bender opened up the scoring with a goal in the fifth minute on a chip-in on a through ball by
Greg DeMaio to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead.
The Monarchs added another tally on a header by
Max Allegro in the 13th minute assisted by
Brian Alifano. The teams played to a scoreless second half setting the final.
Mark Labbadia made four saves in the first shutout of his career in just his second career start.
The Monarchs return to action Sunday at 2:00 pm when they host Dickinson College in the second game of the Monarch Classic.
