NULTON NETS OVERTIME WINNER AS KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS DELAWARE VALLEY 2-1

WILKES-BARRE -- Ivy Nulton scored the game winning goal in over time as the King's College women's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win, King's improved to 3-8-1 and 1-2 in the Freedom Conference while Delaware Valley slipped to 2-9 and 0-3 in league play.
Delaware Valley took a 1-0 lead with 11:10 remaining in the first half when Marianne Morton converted a penalty kick.

The score remained the same until the Lady Monarchs took advantage of a Delaware Valley own-goal just 2:44 into the second half to knot the score at 1-1. Neither team would score the rest of the way as the game entered overtime.

With under two minutes to play in the first over-time session, Nulton took a pass from Taylor Sweeney on the right side of the box and drilled a shot into the upper left corner of the net for the deciding goal. It was a redemption of sorts for King's which had suffered five of its seven defeats by one goal while losing all three previous overtime games played this season

King's outshot Delaware Valley 17-7, including a 7-2 margin in the second half. The Lady Monarchs also held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Lady Monarch goalie Jessica Natale made six saves for King's while Julie Burnell posted five stops.

King's returns to action Saturday with a 5:00 p.m. home matchup against FDU-Florham at McCarthy Stadium.
