KING'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO DEFENDING FREEDOM CHAMPION EASTERN, 3-0

ST. DAVIDS -- The defending Freedom Conference champion Eastern University women's volleyball team proved to be too much as the powerful Eagles posted a 3-0 victory over visiting King's College by a 3-0 count Tuesday in St. Davids.

Eastern, which won by scores of 25-7, 25-5, 25-13, improved to 20-4 overall and 6-0 in Freedom Conference play while King's slipped to 6-16 and 1-5 in league competition.

Mary Loughran topped King's with seven assists and five digs. Alexa Nelson had three kills, two digs, and a block while Molly Dahl also added three kills and one block. Jillian Foster posted seven digs and an assist while Alyssa Powell tallied three digs. Elen O'Donnell chipped in with three digs and one kill.

Eastern was paced by Kearby Benak with nine kills and four digs while Lauren Sproles tallied seven kills. Amy Guarino and Rikki Schlager chipped in with 16 and 14 assists respectively.

King's returns to action Friday when the Lady Monarchs host New Jersey City University at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnsasium.
