MONARCH SOCCER RALLIES FOR 3-1 WIN OVER URSINUS
COLLEGEVILLE — The King's College men's soccer team overcame a 1-0 deficit by scoring the final three goals of the game as the Monarchs posted a 3-1 victory over host Ursinus College Tuesday night in Collegeville.
With the win, King's improved to 5-4-1 while Ursinus slipped to 4-7.
The Bears opened the scoring at the 39:00 mark when Dean DerSimonian scored unassisted to give Ursinus a 1-0 lead. King's would knot the score just 2:56 later when
Tyler Garvine made good on a penalty kick to send the teams into the halftime deadlocked at 1-1.
In the second half, King's took the lead at 71:42 when
Chris Nygren scored when he shot caromed off the Ursinus goalkeeper and into the net.
Daniel Hernandez added an insurance goal at the 82:06 mark with an unassisted goal to bring the final to 3-1.
King's outshot Ursinus 17-11 and held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks. Monarch goalie
Mark Labbadia made his return to action after missing the last three games with an injury. Te Monarch junior made five saves in the game.
King's returns to the pitch Saturday when the Monarchs travel to Center Valley to meet DeSales University at 3:00 p.m.
