KING'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS SHORT IN UPSET ATTEMPT OF DEL-VAL
WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's volleyball played one of its best matches of the season but came up short in the Lady Monarchs' season-finale against Delaware Valley Wednesday night. King's fell 3-2 to the Aggies by scores of 26-24, 24-26, 26-24, 25-15, 15-8.
With the loss, King's saw its season come to an end with 9-18 record while Delaware Valley improved to 16-9.
After splitting the first two games, King's missed out on a golden opportunity in game-three when the Lady Monarchs had match-point, leading 24-22. But the Aggies rallied to claim the set and forge a 2-1 lead. King's went on to dominate game-four 25-15 to tie the match at 2-2 before falling in the fifth and deciding set.
Elen O'Donnell and
Alexa Nelson led the Lady Monarchs offensively with 13 kills apiece. O'Donnell added three digs and two blocks in the match.
Mary Loughran dished out 41 assists while tallying three kills and 11 digs while
Molly Dahl totaled nine kills and six total blocks.
Kaleigh Brady posted nine kills and 10 digs while
Kelsie Kramer garnered five kills and three total blocks.
Jillian Foster had 28 digs, six aces, and four kills while
Eboni Chase chipped in with 12 digs.
Seniors Foster and Dahl also concluded their careers as King's volleyball players.
The Lady Monarchs showed a marked improvement over last season's squad that went 3-20. The Lady Monarchs will return the vast majority of its roster next season as only Foster and Dahl will graduate.
