WILKES WOMEN EDGE KING'S 1-0 ON SECOND-HALF GOAL
WILKES-BARRE -- Katy Fissel scored the only goal of the game at the 57:42 mark as visiting Wilkes University posted a 1-0 victory over cross-town rival King's College Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win, Wilkes ended the regular-season with a 11-4-3 overall record while standing 5-1-1 in Freedom Conference play. King's, meanwhile, saw its season end at 4-12-1 and 1-6.
After a scoreless first half, Wilkes pushed across what proved the game-winning goal when Fissel converted a one-touch pass from the left wing.
Wilkes outshot King's 12-4 while also holding a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. Lauren Duguid made three saves for the Lady Monarchs.
