KING'S FIELD HOCKEY DROPS 2-1 DECISION TO DEL-VAL

DOYLESTOWN -- Taylor Princhett scored the game-winning goal with 8:09 remaining as the host Delaware Valley College field hockey team defeated visiting King's College in a Freedom Conference matchup Saturday in Doylestown.

With the win, Delaware Valley improved to 5-7 overall and 3-0 in the Freedom Conference while King's fell to 8-5 and 2-1 in league play.

King's took a 1-0 lead at the 14:48 mark when Calli Berryman scored her 13th goal of the season off an assist from Kim Howanitz. Delaware Valley tied the game up in the second half when Rony Jacober made good on a pass by Prichett at 52:40. Prichett then added what was eventually the game-winning goal when she scored off a pass from Kelsey Zook at the 61:51 mark.

King's had a chance to tie the game with 0:36 left when a Jackie Sikora shot got by Aggie goalie Sandra Edwards and appeared headed into goal but an Aggie defender cleared the shot just before the ball crossed the goal line to save the day. The Lady Monarchs were also awarded a penalty just prior to the final whistle but were unable to capitalize as the Aggies managed to clear the ball from the circle to end the game.

King's held a 14-10 advantage in shots and were unable to capitalize on a 14-4 lead in penalty corners. Megan Withrow made seven saves for King's while Edwards posted eight stops.

The Lady Monarchs return to the field Wednesday when King's travels to Madison, NJ to face Drew University at 4:30 p.m.
