KING'S MEN'S SOCCER BLANKS DEL-VAL, 4-0
WILKES-BARRE -- Kevin Buchanan had one goal and one assist while David Stroh dished out two assists to power the King's College men's soccer team to an important 4-0 Freedom Conference victory over visiting Delaware Valley College Tuesday night at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win, King's improved to 8-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Freedom Conference while Delaware Valley slipped to 6-4-1 and 0-3 in league competition.
The Monarchs put on an outstanding display of speed, ball possession and defense from the outset.
King's took a 1-0 lead when Kevin Buchanan scored on a crossing pass from David Stroh with 36:38 left in the first half The Monarchs added to the lead when Daniel Hernandez struck net on another cross from David Stroh with 20:54 to play, enabling King's to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Monarchs dominated the first half of play, holding a 12-0 advantage in shots.
The score grew to 3-0 just 7:45 into the second half when Chris Nygren converted a pass from Buchanan. The lead swelled to 4-0 Niall Croke scored the final goal on a header following a pass from Mike Smart with 32:52 left in the contest.
King's outshot Delaware Valley 20-5 and owned a 5-1 lead in corner kicks.
Monarch goalie Labbadia picked up the shutout victory by making two saves. Aggie keeper Chase Clement posted five stops.
King's returns to action Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. home matchup with FDU-Florham at McCarthy Stadium.
