King's Field Hockey Host Eastern in Freedom Conference Championship Game

Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-- The King's College field hockey team will host Eastern University in the Freedom Conference Championship game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.

Tickets are set at $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students, while children age-six or under are free.

The  top-seeded Lady Monarchs advanced to the championship game after defeating fourth-seeded Delaware Valley 4-1 on Friday. Eastern makes its way to title tilt via a wild to 7-4 victory of FDU-Florham Friday afternoon.

Senior Calli Berryman paces the Lady Monarch offense with 42 points on 18 goals and six assists including a goal and an assist in King's semifinal win. Freshman Alyssa Monaghan has tallied eight goals and a team-leading eight helpers.

Jackie Sikora has netted 20 points for the Lady Monarchs on seven goals and six assists. Kim Howanitz has tallied four goals and six assists for 14 points. Abby McManus has chipped in 11 points on five goals and one assist.

The Eagles are led by first-team All-Freedom selection Brittany Moyer with 54 points on 15 goals and 24 assists. Jess Jaindl has notched 18 goals and six assists for 42 points. Kelby Bolton has added 12 goals and nine helpers for 33 points.

King's lead's the Freedom Conference in scoring defense allowing just 1.37 goals per game. Junior goalkeeper Megan Withrow has made 127 saves on the year and holds a 1.40 goals against average. Eastern has given opponents just 1.89 goals per game. Kylie Jones has started 11 games  on the year going 8-3 making 57 saves and boasts a 1.87 goals against average.

The Lady Monarchs won the regular season matchup 2-1 on Sept. 29. Since Eastern joined the Freedom in 2008 the two teams have met in the postseason four times. The Lady Monarchs are 0-4 in postseason play against the Eagles including losses in the title game in 2009 and 2010.

The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the NCAA Division III national tournament. The NCAA tournament field will be announced on Tuesday.
