Monarch  Cagers Continue Freedom Conference Play at FDU-Florham


Madison, N.J.—The King's College men's basketball team looks to build on their win in the conference opener when they travel to FDU-Florham Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Ferguson Recreation Center.

The Monarchs come into the showdown with FDU 3-2 overall and 1-0 in Freedom Conference play after an 83-65 win over Delaware Valley Wednesday night. Keyton Winder posted a career-high 32 points, including 27 in the first half, to lead the way for King's.

FDU enters Saturday's contest with an 0-3 overall record and an 0-1 mark in league play. The Devils dropped an 82-71 decision to DeSales on Wednesday in their conference opener.

Winder leads the King's offense averaging 13.6 points and also chips in a team-leading 5.8 rebounds per game. Junior guard Kyle Hammonds has added 10.6 points and 3.0 boards per contest.

Sophomore Tim O'Shea also averages double figure scoring with 10.4 points as well as 4.0 rebounds. Senior Matt Fiorino leads the team with 15 helpers to go with 9.0 points per outing. Freshman forward Tom Heston adds 5.4 points and 4.8 boards per game.

The Devils have three players scoring in double figures led by 16.0 points from Mike Williams. Trevor Sykes has added 12.3 points per game and leads the team with eight helpers. Will Green is averaging a double-double with 11.7 points and a team-leading 10.3 rebounds.

Following the matchup with the Devils the Monarchs host Penn State-Hazleton on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Scandlon Gymnasium.
