KING'S WOMEN CRUISE PST PENN STATE SCHUYLKILL, 95-46

WILKES-BARRE --  Freshman guard Tiffany O'Donnell scored a career-high 14 points and the King's College defense forced 29 turnovers as the host Lady Monarch basketball team posted a 95-46 victory over visiting Penn Stats Schuylkill Wednesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, King's improved to 4-3 while Schuylkill slipped to 0-6.

The Lady Monarchs raced out of the gates to a 7-0 lead following a bucket by Jessica McHugh and one of two foul shots from Katlin Michaels. After Schuylkill trimmed the lead to 8-5 following a traditional three-point play by Bree Green with 14:12 on the clock, the Lady Monarchs exploded with a 21-3 run to build a 29-8 lead following a three-pointer by Celia Rader, a lay-up from Ashley Davies, and a driving lay-up by McHugh with 7:52 remaining in the opening stanza.

After Schuylkill score on a jumper by Kelsey Kenney to bring the score to 29-10 with 6:49 to go, King's closed out the half with a 18-10 surge to take a 47-20 lead at the break. Rader had nine points at the half while O'Donnell and Tara Zdancewicz added eight each to pace the Lady Monarch attack.

It was more of the same in the second half as King's head coach Brian Donoghue frequently rotated in player throughout. After the Lady Monarchs stretched the lead to 62-31 with 13:53 to play, the Nittany Lions would get the score to under 30 points just once the rest of the way.

King's had 15 of the team's 16 players reach the scoring column in the game as no Lady Monarchs played more than 16 minutes. 

O'Donnell was 5-of-5 from the field and was 3-for-3 from three-point range while Zdancewicz followed with a career-high 11 points and six rebounds.  Celia Rader tallied nine points on 3-of-6 shooting from long range while Michaels posted nine points and seven assists. Freshman Jennifer Fabian added nine points and seven rebounds in her first game of the year.  Molly Dahl contributed with seven points while Kyley Henry and Sara Krupinski chipped in with  six points each.

Penn State Schuylkill was paced by Katelyn Celani with 11 points and 12 rebounds while Green followed with 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Kenney netted eight points and five rebounds while Kenney and Danielle Grasso chipped in with s x points apiece.

King's will be idle until December 28 when the Lady Monarchs compete in the Juniata Invitational December 28-29.
