KING'S GRAPPLERS FALL TO ONEONTA STATE, 30-10

WILKES-BARRE --  Visiting Oneonta State won seven of 10 matches, including two forfeits, as the visiting Red Dragons posted a 30-10 victory over host King's College in a NCAA Division III non-conference matchup Wednesday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, Oneonta improved to 7-8 on the year while King's slipped to 4-11 after its final home dual meet of the season.

King's started out on a high note when freshmen Aaron Perez posted a 17-3 major decision at 125-pounds. Oneonta then won two straight decisions before adding a forfeit at 149 to take a 12-4 lead.  King's countered by cutting the margin to 12-7 when Gordon Custer gutted out a 3-1 victory following a takedown in the fourth overtime period.

Oneonta, however, received a forfeit at 165, then tallied a decision at 174 to stretch the lead to 21-7. King's all-American Mike Reilly (19-2) returned to the line-up for the first time in three weeks and registered a 10-3 decision at 184 to cut the gap to 21-10.But Oneonta closed out the match with a decision victory at 197, then a pin at heavyweight to season the victory.

Reilly's victory was the 115th of his career and he stands in fourth all-time at King's and will likely move past JIm Morgan (117) and Kevin Lesoine (116) into second-place in the Monarch record books. Mitch Marks holds the King's career record with 144 wins.

King's returns to action Saturday when the Monarchs travel to Gettysburg for a quad-meet with Mesiah College, Penn State Beaver, and host Gettysburg College set for 12:00 noon.
