Lady Monarchs Travel to FDU-Florham for Freedom Conference Tilt

Madison, NJ— The King's College women's basketball team puts its perfect conference record on the line when they take on FDU-Florham at 1:00 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs are 17-3 overall and 9-0 in the Freedom Conference after squeezing out a 60-56 victory over Eastern to pick up their 10th straight win. They lead the conference by two games over Misericordia. The Devils are sitting at 10-10 overall and 4-5 in the Freedom two games out of the last playoff spot after a knocking off Manhattanville 69-66.

It has been about defense this year for the Lady Monarchs. King's leads the conference in scoring defense holding opponents to 55.7 points per game overall and 52.9 points per contest in their nine Freedom games. King's also leads the conference in 3-point defense allowing opponents just .227 percent from 3-point range. The Lady Monarchs have blocked 77 shots the second most in the Freedom.

The game will be strength against strength as the Devils come in with the conference's second best offense averaging 67.1 points per contest. FDU has turned defense into offense leading the league in steals with 15.1 per game and also lead the Freedom in turnover margin at 8.8.

Two months have passed since the Lady Monarchs topped the Devils 90-73 at Scandlon Gymnasium. Paige Carlin was King's top scorer with 25 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and 9-of-12 from the charity stipe to go with eight rebounds. Celia Rader added 21 points and connected on 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc. Kyra Dayon topped the score sheet for FDU with a double double of 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Senior forward Samantha Simcox leads the King's offense with 11.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Carlin has come off the bench in her senior season and provided 10.9 points and 4.1 boards per contest. Carlin is chasing 1,000 points for her career. She needs just 51 points to become just the 18th player in program history to reach that milestone.

Rader has chipped in 9.5 points and connected on 35 treys which is the fourth highest total in the Freedom Conference. Versatile junior guard Katlin Michaels has triggered the offense with 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per contest. In her freshman campaign forward Marissa Manning has tallied 7.7 points and 4.8 boards per game and her 25 blocks rank third in the Freedom.

The Devils offense is paced by Dayon. Her 16.0 points per game is the third highest total in the Freedom to go with her 8.0 rebounds and conference leading 4.6 steals per contest. Tasza Carter is averaging 10.5 points and 2.6 boards per contest. Jalessa Lewis has also reached double figures in scoring with 10.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.

The Lady Monarchs return to Scandlon Gymnasium when they host Delaware Valley at 6:00 p.m. in another Freedom Conference matchup.
