Box Score King's Baseball Beats Penn State Hazleton in Home Opener
Wilkes-Barre, PA-- The King's College baseball team used an eight run fourth inning to top Penn State Hazleton 12-2 in the Monarchs home opener Monday afternoon.
King's used patience at the plate in the fourth drawing six walks and getting four hits to push eight runs across the plate.
Anthony Re led off the inning with a walk and then drove home a pair of runs on a flair single to right field plating a pair of runs.
The Monarchs got started early pushing two runs across in the bottom of the first innning.
Cody Krupa drove in the second run with a single to left.
Rob Lemoncelli had the big night at the plate for the Monarchs going 4-for-5 including a pair of doubles to go with three RBI and two runs scored.
Brian Mikus also picked up multiple hits going 2-fo-5 with a run scored.
Brenton Eades picked up the win for King's allowing two runs on five hits and five strikeouts over three innnings pitched.
Levi Tate gave the Monarchs three scoreless innings allowing just two hits while striking out six and walking just two.
The game was scheduled for nine innings, but was called after seven due to darkness. The Monarchs have a quick turn around as they host Lebanon Valley on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
