KING'S BASEBALL FALLS TO MARYWOOD, 9-4

WILKES-BARRE -- Visiting Marywood University opened a 5-0 lead after two innings and never looked back as the Pacers posted a 9-4 victory over host King's College in a non-conference baseball contest Tuesday at Lipo Field in the Betzler Athletic Complex.

With the win, Marywood improved to 11-5 on the year while the Monarchs slipped to 5-7.

The Pacers opened a 3-0 first inning lead on the strength of a two-run home run by Shane Miller and a RBI double from
Nick Pasqualichio. After a scoreless second inning, Marywood added two more runs in the third thanks to a two-run double by Miller and a bases-loaded walk to Josh Plisko.

King's cut the lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning when Chris Sweeney doubled
and later scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Rich Acierno.

Following a scoreless fifth, Marywood
added four runs in the sixth inning, keyed by RBI singles from Pasqualichio, Miller, Chris Ortiz, and David Maione.

King's answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame. After Sweeney and Brian Mikus
singled around a walk to Eric Bohem, Acierno drew a bases-loaded walk. Tim Marchetti then stroked a BI single, and Anthony Re drove in another run with an infield ground out as King's trimmed to lead to 9-4.

Neither team
would score over the final three innings as the Pacers walked away with the victory.

Sweeney led King's with a 2-for-5 showing with two runs while Mikus
went 2-for-4 with one run. King's freshman Richie Bartumioli was the loser in his first collegiate appearance, allowing five earned runs in three full innings while strikijng out two batters.

Miller led Marywood
by going 5-for-5 with four RBI while Pasqualichio was 4-for-6 with three runs and two RBI. Mike Ciavarella was the winning pitcher, allowing four earned runs in six innings of work striking out two batters while walking two.

King's will return to action Friday and Saturday with a three-game Freedom Conference series against Eastern University. King's travels to St. David to face the Eagles Friday at 3:30 p.m. before the teams meet in Wilkes-Barre in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at Lipo
