KING'S BASEBALL SWEPT BY DELAWARE VALLEY IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE TWIN BILL

DOYLESTOWN -- The King's College baseball team dropped an important Freedom Conference doubleheader to host Delaware Valley College on Saturday. The Aggies won the first game 4-2 before taking the nightcap 4-0.

King's, which beat Del-Val 15-8 on Friday during the first matchup of the three-game series between the teams, fell to 8-11 overall and 3-6 in Freedom Conference games. The Aggies, meanwhile, won in-conference for the first time this season, improving to 9-11 and 2-7.

In the opener the Monarchs mustered only six hits in the game and allowed three unearned runs after committing three errors. King's trailed 3-0 before scoring a run in the fourth. Chris Sweeney walked and later scored on a RBI single by Rich Acierno
. The Monarchs added their final run in the fifth when Tim Marchetti singled, moved to second on a base hit by Cody Krupa, then scored on a RBI single from Mike Santiago.

Marchetti
led the Monarchs by going 3-for-3 in the game. Joe Dorbad was the hard-luck loser, throwing six strong innings, allowing six hits, one earned run, while striking out three batters.

In the nightcap, King's managed only four hits in the game and did not advance a runner beyond second base. Eric Bohem
was 2-for-3 while Sweeney and Marchetti added one hit each. Anthony Sangirardi allowed four earned runs on nine hits over six innings and struck out two batters.

King's returns to action Tuesday when the Monarchs host New Jersey City University at 4:00 p.m. at Lipo
Field.
