King's Drops 3-2 Decision to Susquehanna
Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-- The King's College baseball team found themselves on the wrong end of a pitchers duel falling 3-2 to visiting Susquehanna Tuesday afternoon at Lipo Field.
Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth the Crusaders loaded the bases with two outs and scored when a King's pick off attempt failed to push the Susquehanna lead to 3-1.
The Monarchs rallied in the eighth when
Eric Bohem picked up a single to right and moved to third on a single by
Brian Mikus. Bohem scored when
Jared Turner hit a grounder to third and the throw to first was wide putting runners on second and third, but Chris DeCarlo popped out to second to end the threat.
Mikus was 2-for-4 on the day with a pair of singles.
Anthony Re was the only other Monarch with multiple hits finishing 2-for-5.
Rich Bartumioli took the loss going four innings allowing two runs, both earned, on three hits with three strikeouts. Luc Kocher picked up the win for the Crusaders going 7 2-3 innings allowing two runs, one earned, on eight hits while striking out three. Matt Smith picked up his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.
The Monarchs return to action Friday when they travel across town to take on Wilkes in a Freedom
