King's Baseball Falls as Scranton Rallies Late

SCRANTON BASEBALL RALLIES PAST KING'S, 16-13
SCRANTON -- The King's College baseball team was unable to make a 13-7 lead through six innings stand up as the host University of Scranton rallied for a 16-13 victory Tuesday at Connell Park.

With the loss, King's
slipped to 11-18 while Scranton improved to 14-13.

King's built a 5-0 lead
after the game's first at-bats, taking advantage of three walks, a RBI double from Tim Zaccone,and RBI's from Chris Sweeney, Brian Mikus, and James Baczkowski.

Scranton answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame and added one run in the second and two more in the third
to take a 6-5 lead. King's countered with a solo home run from Eric Bohem in the fourth and a RBI single from Sweeney in the fifth to knot the score at 7-7.

The Monarchs then exploded for six runs in the sixth after Scranton walked four batters as Rob Lemoncelli
and Bohem both stroked two-run singles and Zaccone added a run-scoring single of his own as the Monarchs built a 13-7 lead.

But the roof caved in as Scranton scored six runs in the seventh
inning before adding three more in the eighth.

In the seventh, Scranton capitalized on two King's errors as four of the Royal's six runs were unearned, tying the game at 13-13. In the eighth, Scranton plated three runs, keyed by a RBI double from Mike Emrerich
and a run-scoring single by Tim Lecompte, and an infield RBI grounder off the bat of Jim Outhouse.

In the ninth, the Monarchs got on their first two batters as Bohem
singled and Richie Acierno drew a walk. But Scranton retired the next three Monarchs to ended the game.

Bohem
led the Monarchs by going 4-for-6 with three RBI and two runs scored, including a home run. Sweeney was 2-for-6 with two RBI while Zaccone was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Lemoncelli chipped in by finishing 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

The Monarchs return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game against Widener University at Diamond Nation in Flemington, NJ.
