King's Baseball Swept by Conference Leading Misericordia
Swoyersville, Pa.-- The King's College baseball team fell to host Misericordia in a pair of games on Saturday to the Freedom Conference leaders Misericordia.
The Monarchs fell to 11-22 overall and 5-13 in the Freedom Conference after a 6-2 loss in the opener and then taking an 8-3 loss in game two.
Errors hurt the Monarchs in the first game as starter
Brenton Eades allowe six runs, but only one earned as Misericordia (29-6, 15-3) posted three runs in the botom of the first and two more in third. King's got on the board in the fourth and tacked on another in the sixth.
Rich Acierno was the only Monarch hitter to collect multiple hits in the opener going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a double.
In game two the Cougars built a 6-0 lead courtesy of a pair of home runs by Will Minderjahn and Kenny Durling in a five-run fifth inning.
Eric Bohem pulled the Monarchs back within three with a three-run blast of his own in the top of the sixth.
In addition to Bohem's home run, Acierno added a pair of hits and
Anthony Re chipped in a hit and a run scored.
Joe Dorbad took the loss on the hill in the second game going six innings striking out three and walking three. Gabe Noyalis picked up the win going three runs on four hits with three strike outs and one free pass.
The Monarchs take a break from Freedom Conference action on Sunday when they travel to Marywood for a 12:00 p.m. start.
