KING'S BASEBALL DOWNS RUTGERS-NEWARK, 11-6
NEWARK, NJ -- The King's College baseball team overcame an early three-run deficit as the Monarchs posted a 11-6 victory over host Rutgers-Newark University Tuesday night at Riverfront Stadium in Newark, NJ.

With the win King's improved to 12-22 while Rutgers-Newark slipped to 15-20.

Trailing 3-0 in the third, the Monarchs
pushed across five runs to take the lead. A two-run single by Richie Acierno and a a pair of run-scoring doubles from Tim Marchetti and Brian Mikus keyed the inning.

The Monarchs added two more runs in the fourth on a RBI single from Rob Lemoncelli
and a run-scoring double off the bat of Eric Bohem to push the King's lead to 7-3.
King's put the game away with a four-run fifth thanks to a two-run single by Rob Lemoncelli, and RBI singles from Chris Sweeney and Tim Zaccone.

Lemoncelli topped the Monarchs by going 4-for-5 with three RBI. Sweeney, Bohem, and Mikus added two hits each while Acierno was 1-for-5 with two RBI. Pat Matthews was the winning pitcher for King's, scattering nine hits over seven innings while allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts.

The Monarchs will host their annual Challenger Division Game Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Betzler Athletic Complex. King's will then entertain FDU-Florham Friday at 3:30 p.m.
