King's Golfers Finish Sixth at Freedom Conference Championships

HERSHEY -- The King's College golf team finished in sixth place on the final day of the 2012 Freedom Conference Championships Sunday at the Hershey Country Club, Hershey.

The Monarchs, who were also sixth after the first day of the event on Saturday with a 348, shot seven strokes better on Sunday, carding a 341 while totaling a 689 for the tournament.

Manhattanville was the team champion, easily outdistancing the field of eight teams with a 609. FDU-Florham was second with a 664 followed by DeSales (672), Delaware Valley (680), and Misericordia (687). The Monarchs finished ahead of seventh-place Wilkes (735) and eighth-place Eastern (750).

Jake Humphreys was the Monarchs' top finisher with a combined 168 to place 14th overall. Humphreys scored a 87 on day but improved to 81 with the eighth best round of the day on Sunday. Justin Eimers also made improvement after a first-round 88, tallying a 82 on Sunday to finish 15th overall at 170.

Eric Jesikiewicz followed up his 86 on Saturday with a 88 on Sunday to finish 22nd with a 174. Tom McGrath carded an 87 on Sunday and added a 90 on Sunday to stand 25th with a 177. Kyle Newton rounded out the King's lineup, improving from a 106 on Saturday to a 99 on Sunday. Newton played in place of King's veteran starter Ian Oakley who was unable to compete in the event due to an illness.

Nick Sica of Manhattanville earned medalist honors, posting a 151 (79-72) to win the Freedom Conference Individual title.
