EYDLER WINS 400TH AS MONARCH TENNIS DEFEATS ALVERNIA 7-2

READING -- The King's College men's tennis team handed veteran head coach Bill Eydler his 400th career victory as the Monarchs tuned up for this week's Freedom Conference Tournament with a 7-2 victory over host Alvernia University Sunday in Reading.

With the win, King's wrapped up the regular-season with a 13-9 record and stands as the second-seed in the Freedom Conference Tournament which begins Wednesday. Alvernia, meanwhile, is 8-7 and will be seeded fourth in the Commonwealth Conferecne Tournament.

Eydler, in his 33rd yeat at King's, stands at 400-296 in his Monarch career.

King's took a 2-1 lead after doubles, keyed by a 8-4 win by the team of Chris Cozzillio and Tim Carroll in the first flight, alomng with a 8-5 triumph by Nick Conte and Matt Grassi in the third flight.

The Monarchs then secured the win by picking up victories in five of the six singles matches. Jake Rohring, Bobby Buttafogo, and Conte were straight set winners while Cozzillio and Tony Bevevino won three-set matches.

King's returns to the court Wednesday when the Monarchs host third-seeded Manhattanville in the Freedom Conference Semi-finals set for 3:30 p.m. at Kirby Park.
