King's Men's Soccer Tops Farmingdale in 6-1 Win

Wilkes Barre, Pa. --The King's College men's soccer team overcame an early deficit to pick up their first win of the young season with a 6-1 victory over Farmingdale State in the second day of the Monarch/Royal Classic.

Farmingdale struck first on an unassisted tally from Vincent Danetti on a ball that skipped over King's keeper Mark Labbadia at 19:22. The Monarchs answered back when Kevin Buchanan took a Daniel Hernandez pass and beat the keeper to the lower right. The Monarchs took a 2-1 lead into the half courtesy of Erik Foster's first collegate goal assisted by Raul Cruz.

Chris Nygren opened the game up just 29 seconds into the second half when he buried a David Stroh feed past a sprawling Ricky Meshkow. Stroh added a goal of his own at 55:23 with a helper from Hernandez.

Brandon Raynor added a pair of insurance goals in the final eight minutes off two Matthew James cornerkicks to set the final.

King's dominated the game out shooting the Rams 20-7 and held an 11-1 edge in corrner kicks. Mark Labbadia picked up the win making two saves and allowing just one goal.

The Monarchs improve to 1-1 on the year and travel to Marywood fo a non-conference game on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
